luke 8: 11-15

Luke 8: 11-15

This is the meaning of the parable: The seed is the word of god. Those along the path are the ones who hear, and then the devil comes and takes away the word from their hearts, so that they may not believe and be saved. Those on the rocky ground are the ones who receive the word with joy when they hear it, but they have no root. They believe for a while, but in the time of testing they fall away. The seed that fell among thrones stands for those who hear, but as they go on their way they are choked by life’s worries, riches and pleasures, and they do not mature.

“Those on the rocky ground are the ones who receive the word with joy when they hear it” This line made me think about how broken people are more open to a loving God because their broken and they need someone to fill that gap in their heart. They have a hard time growing their roots in God because every other person in their life has broken them when they finally began to trust them most. That’s why this line is so true “they believe for a while, but in the time of testing they fall away” they don’t build deep roots in God himself they build roots in the love that he provides.  I many times I find myself in this same boat, I don’t feel worthy of God’s great grace but I still receive it. Even when I feel broken.  But it is extremely hard to make deep roots that won’t run dry when you’re scared that God won’t stay around. But he’s the one and only person that you can depend on every day every second.

Application:

Tell one of the guys a personal thing so I can build trust there for build trust in God throughout time.
